Yau Ma Tei Police Station
Back in the twenties, the Edwardian Free Style was a major style for civic buildings and represented a relatively modern approach to classical architecture. The V-shaped architecture design is the major feature of this 3-storey building. The surrounding porch supported by round columns visible on the outside is characteristic of colonial buildings of Hong Kong. Alike numerous building in Hong Kong, some of the architectural features of the police station has been adapted for feng shui reasons. For instance, the portico at the main entrance is set in an indented corner to better protect the building's inhabitants.
Because the police station has retained its authentic appearance it has become a favorite of film directors over the years. It has shown off its grandeur and good looks in a few movies, the most famous one being Rush Hour 2.
